Celer, filius Lucien, Magus of House Bonisagus

Somewhat out of place in a covenant of English nobles, Normans and Scots, the Roman Celer complements the abilities of his fellow magi nicely. Still, with the countryside littered with the ruins of Roman forts and roads, standing stones, and Viking monments, one can understand the wizard's interest in the area. Moreover, Corona Montis' prestige cannot be hurt by the presence of a second Bonisagus magus at the covenant.

Background: Celer was born in 1191 to wealthy merchants in Rome. They loved their son, but knew early on that there was something different about the boy. He showed great intelligence, and possessed a sharp mind for dealing with people. There was more - just what more they did not know - until one day, a stranger approached them with a deal. Once they knew the truth about their son they sold him to Adalaide of Tremere.

Adalaide already had an apprentice, and he felt that the boy possessed rare abilities, so he sold him to Lucien of Bonisagus. Lucien was an accomplished master who saw Celer's unusual talents. Though Lucien gave Celer the basis for the magical training that he needed, he encouraged Celer to learn on his own, an approach that proved most effective with the young magus. All of the covenant's materials were made available for Celer and he rarely had to ask for help or guidance.

Celer was quick to pass his Gauntlet, which was to make a magic item that used a porcupine's quill in it. So his sigil will now actually stab anyone but him that touches it. The porcupine quill shoots out of any part of the sigil, and then makes use of a spell (Bite of the Scared Porcupine, CrAn 15).

Celer always had an interest in the Old Ones, though you could not classify him as a Seeker. Although Lucien was surprised when Celer left the Mediterranean for England, he is sure that Celer knows what he is doing, and believes that Celer's fame will surpass his own renown.
