Orpheus' Bane (PeAn 15)

R: Far, D: Mom, T: Ind

Spell Focus: ???

This spell was invented by Prava Sagitta of Verditius as a remedy for one of his fellow magi, the self-styled "Bard of Corona Montis," Roland Whitney of Ex Miscellanea. Its function is simple: it snaps the strings of a musical instrument.

Ward Against Biting Insects (ReAn 10)

R: Near, D: Sun/Year, T: Ind

Spell Focus: Aloe (+3)

This spell was invented by Roland Whitney of Ex Miscellanea. This spell prevents nonmagical insects from biting any beneficiary.

Betrayal of the Friendly Beast (ReAn 24)

R: Near, D: Day, T: Ind

Spell Focus:

This spell was invented by Celer of Bonisagus.

Aquam Spells

Shelter for a Rainy Day (ReAq 5)

Auram Spells

Chamber of Music (CrAu 5)

R: Near, D: Sun, T: Room

Spell Focus: A Lute String (+3)

This spell creates pleasant music to fill a medium-sized room.

Sounds of the Quenching Draughts (InAu 15)

R: Far, D: Conc, T: Structure

Spell Focus: Grains of Barley (+3)

Brings the clinking sounds of mugs and plates from the direction of the nearest inn or pub, thus showing the magus the way to it.

Corpus Spells

Tracing the Trail of Death's Stench (InCo 20)

R: Arc, D: Conc, T: Ind

Spell Focus: The Murder Weapon (+2)

Works like The Inexorable Search (InCo 20), but the person sought must be dead. Not really a new spell, since it is mentioned on page 124 of the Ars Magica Fourth Edition rulebook, but easy to overlook.

Aegis of Perseus (MuCo[Te] 25)

R: Touch/Near, D: Sun/Year, T: Group

Spell Focus: Cat's Eye (+3)

Requisite: Terram

This spell protects its beneficiaries from petrification attacks, whether by spell or magical creature. Any recipient of the spell gains a +9 to rolls to resist being turned to stone, earth or metal.

This spell was invented by Baelthornon of House Bonisagus. (Base Effect Level 20; Range +0; Duration +0; Target +5)

Wings of the Falcon (MuCo[An] 25)

R: Per/Touch, D: Sun/Perm, T: Ind

Spell Focus: Feather of a Falcon (+3)

Requisites: Animál

The target sprouts feathery wings from his back and can use them to fly like a bird. He can dispel the wings at will, but doing so ends the spell.

At the storyguide’s discretion, this spell may require an Auram requisite. This spell was invented by Celer of Bonisagus.

Snaking Symbol of Stupefaction (ReCo[Im] 20)

R: Near/Sight, D: Conc/Year, T: Ind

Spell Focus: Skin of a Constrictor Snake (+4)

Requisite: Imáginem

With the casting of this spell, the magus brings into being a shimmering, snaking symbol, either in the air in front of him or in writing.

If cast in the air before the magus, the caster must have the attention of the intended target, who must be able to see the snaking Symbol. The target feels an invisible force constrict around him and he or she is held motionless unless they make a natural resistance stress roll — adding Strength + Size — of 12+. Victims are able to breathe normally, but they are otherwise held motionless. The caster must maintain concentration to keep the target still unless vis is employed in the spell’s casting.

If written, the target will be the next person to view the symbol (note that without vis to extend the duration of the spell, the Symbol must be read before the caster stops concentration; otherwise, the Symbol lasts for one year). The caster may indicate at the time of casting one exemption per point of Finesse to indicate those persons unaffected by the spell’s effect. For example, Baelthornon of Bonisagus has a Finesse of 1 with a specialty of Corpus, so the storyguide might allow him to specify himself (for his score of 1) and one other (for his additional score in his specialty) to be unaffected by the Symbol. Targets reading the Symbol and not exempted by the caster suffer the same effects as outlined above. Note that while the Symbol lasts for a Year when boosted by vis, the target is held motionless only for Moon duration should they miss their natural resistance roll when vis is used.

This spell was invented by Baelthornon of House Bonisagus. (Base Effect Level 20; Range –10 [variation of Eye Range]; Duration +10 [variation of Moon Duration]; Target +0)

Vicious Fling of the Mundane (ReCo 22)

R: Near, D: Inst, T: Ind

Spell Focus: Clothing from a falling victim (+5)

This spell was invented by Celer of Bonisagus. Works like Mighty Fling of the Menacing Knight (ReCo 20), but throws the victim up to 12 paces away.

Herbam Spells

Stout Lance of the Chevalier (ReHe 10)

R: Touch/Near, D: Sun/Year, T: Small

Spell Focus: A Sliver of Iron (+2)

This spell prevents a lance (or wooden object of equal or lesser size) from breaking shy of magical means. This spell was invented by Roland Whitney of Ex Miscellanea, who earned Sir Christopher's admiration for ensuring his lance would never break!

Ignem Spells

None as of yet.

Imáginem Spells

Vision of the Slathering Beast (CrIm 10)

R: Near, D: Sun, T: Ind

Spell Focus: A Teardrop (+5)

This spell creates an image of a horrible, growling, demonic beast between the caster and his attacker. The attacker must make a Bravery stress roll of 6+ to continue attacking.

Mentem Spells

Two Minds Made One (InMe 15)

R: Touch/Near, D: Sun, T: Ind

Spell Focus: A Lock of Hair from the Subject (+5)

This spell allows a caster to understand what a subject knows about any matter of limited scope (such as today's tasks). It allows two mages wo work together in a more efficient manner. Casting it throughgout a season of collaboration adds a +3 to the lab total for the magi.

Grasp of the Sandman (ReMe 15)

R: Near, D: Spec, T: Ind

Spell Focus: Grains of Sand (+3)

A faster version of The Call to Slumber (ReMe 10), this spell puts a person to sleep with very little chance of resisting.

Terram Spells

None as of yet.

Vim Spells

None as of yet.
